Job SummaryThe University of Mary Washington has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Accounts Receivable Technician. This position serves as the primary point of contact in the Student Accounts Customer Service Center. Provide excellent customer service whether in-person, via telephone or email across all levels of responsibility. Independently manage third-party billing as assigned. Assist in the Student Accounts Office to ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounts receivable transactions.

- Working knowledge of accounting and general business practices including knowledge of AR policies and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and assist in preparation of financial reports and documents.
- Excellent computer skills including those of computerized accounting systems.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to analyze financial transactions and reports.
- Experience working in a business office.
- Experience with accounts receivable and general accounting principles.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge and prior experience with Ellucian Banner.
- Completion of a college degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or a related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Selected candidates, excluding current UMW employees, must successfully pass a criminal history background check. Employment verification will be conducted to include current/previous supervisory employment reference checks. Other financial, credit, driving background checks or completion of a Statement of Economic Interests may be required for certain positions. Submission of background check results may be requested upon hiring.
