Parking Enforcement Officer
Part-Time
Starting Salary: $17.33-$19.00/hour
JOB SUMMARYUnder general supervision, enforces the parking ordinances for the City of Fredericksburg. Duties include patrolling assigned areas, issuing citations for violations, and providing information to the public regarding parking regulations. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to handle situations with tact and professionalism. Additionally, the position involves keeping accurate records of citations and collaborating with other city departments to ensure a safe and orderly parking environment.
ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS
- Enforces all parking laws of Fredericksburg City Code
- Writes parking tickets for violations of city code
- Responds and investigates parking related complaints
- Operates the Auto Chalk parking enforcement system
- Testifies in court for contested parking tickets
- Tows vehicles as needed when related to parking violations
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Two (2) years of related experience or training;
- Or equivalent education, and/or experience.
- A valid Virginia driver’s license.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work from guidelines, but independently determine the approach for doing the work.
- Ability to perform routine or clearly defined activities under close supervision.
Position will remain open until filled.
