The Lab Technician is responsible for performing laboratory testing, specimen collection, and supporting providers by ensuring safe and efficient lab operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and comfortable working with children of all ages and will work closely with our providers and lab team to ensure smooth daily operations, accurate specimen handling, and compliance with all clinical and safety standards.
This role will also support leadership functions, helping guide and train staff, monitor workflows, and maintain efficiency in the lab environment.
- Collect and process specimens including blood, urine, and swabs following pediatric-appropriate techniques.
- Perform CLIA‑waived and moderate-complexity tests per clinic protocols.
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and handling of all specimens.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, perform quality control, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Communicate test results within expected time frames.
- Maintain inventory of lab supplies and restock as needed.
- Support medical assistants and providers with clinical tasks during high‑volume periods.
- Uphold strict infection control and safety procedures.
- Provide a calm, family‑friendly demeanor when caring for children during lab procedures.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA)
- Clinical/lab experience in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in specimen collection (including pediatric phlebotomy preferred)
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced pediatric environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Prior pediatric experience
- Certified Laboratory Technician, Phlebotomist, or related credential.
- Familiarity with EHR systems (Next Gen is a plus)
- Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA standards.
