This position is responsible for providing accurate interpretation of cell studies to assist physicians in diagnosis and patient care. The incumbent will support the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare and demonstrate a commitment to quality service to patients, physicians, the public, and co-workers.

• Evaluate microscopic cell preparations to identify abnormalities.
• Prepare cell samples and specimens for timely and effective diagnosis.
• Maintain patient follow-up files to ensure current and accurate records of procedures and results.
• Enter test results data and perform quality control procedures to ensure accurate reporting.
• Consult with physicians and other departments to interpret test results and patient protocols accurately.
• Record the total number of slides examined or reviewed in all laboratories over a 24-hour period.
• Document the hours spent examining slides within each 24-hour period.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Baccalaureate degree required.
• CT (ASCP) certification (or equivalent) required.
• Six months to one year of relevant experience required.
