The Occupational Therapist provides high‑quality, patient‑centered care by managing the complete occupational therapy process for an assigned group of patients. Responsibilities include assessment, plan development, individualized care, monitoring outcomes, documentation, education, discharge planning, and mentoring new staff.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, evaluate, plan, and carry out occupational therapy programs in accordance with physician orders.
- Design sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities to restore function or adapt to disabilities.
- Implement therapeutic care based on clinical assessment.
- Teach patient skills and techniques for participation in activities.
- Document and report patient progress toward goals.
- Integrate occupational therapy with other aspects of patient care.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate patient status using computerized documentation systems.
- Educate patient and families; participate in discharge planning.
- Provide age‑ and culturally appropriate care; orient and mentor new staff members.
- Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Customer‑service orientation with effective listening skills.
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, reach, squat, kneel, move, and lift patients or equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy (D.O.T., M.S., or B.S. in Occupational Therapy).
- State licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) or CPR (American Red Cross).
- No specific experience requirements.
