Job Summary

The Paint Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily paint department operations while performing hands‑on painting and preparation tasks. This role ensures quality standards are met, safety protocols are followed, and team members are properly trained and supported. The position involves supervising paint processes, coordinating workflow, and maintaining efficient production using various spray systems.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support paint department team members on assigned shift
  • Coordinate daily workflow to meet production schedules and deadlines
  • Ensure adherence to company safety policies, including proper use of PPE and respirators
  • Train and coach employees on paint processes, equipment uses, and quality standards
  • Oversee setup, operation, and cleaning of spray equipment (air‑assisted airless, HVLP, pressure pots, cup guns)
  • Monitor paint application techniques to ensure consistent quality and finish
  • Perform and support sanding, masking, scuffing, puttying, spackling, and prep work
  • Inspect finished products to ensure quality expectations are met
  • Maintain paint inventory levels and assist with ordering and tracking materials
  • Ensure all spray guns and equipment are cleaned and maintained daily
  • Promote a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure overall production success
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Enforce departmental policies and procedures
  • Perform hands‑on painting and prep work as needed
  • Complete documentation such as order sheets, production records, and reports
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of commercial or industrial paint experience required
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • At least 6 months of spray application experience
  • Strong knowledge of paint prep, application, and finishing techniques
  • Ability to wear a respirator and pass fit testing requirements
  • Familiarity with SDS/MSDS sheets and safety standards
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to train, motivate, and develop team members
