The Additive Manufacturing Technician will own the hands‑on post‑processing of MJF parts and help ensure parts move efficiently from print completion through finished‑part readiness.

This role may also support FDM, SLA, finishing, and other production tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Additive Manufacturing Production Lead with daily MJF production tasks.
  • Assist with build preparation, machine operation, powder handling, unpacking, and job staging.
  • Own MJF post‑processing activities, including depowdering, cleaning, bead blasting, dyeing, sorting, and staging of parts.
  • Install heat‑set inserts and other required hardware into additive manufactured parts according to work instructions, drawings, and quality requirements.
  • Follow established work instructions, job travelers, quality requirements, and production priorities.
  • Inspect parts visually during post‑processing and identify defects, damage, missing parts, insert issues, or processing concerns.
  • Maintain organized staging areas for printed parts, cleaned parts, inspected parts, rework, and completed jobs.
  • Support powder handling, powder recovery, material organization, and general housekeeping in the MJF production area.
  • Assist with machine cleaning, routine maintenance tasks, consumable changes, and equipment readiness.
  • Record required production information, including job status, quantities, scrap, rework, machine logs, insert counts, and post‑processing notes.
  • Support FDM and SLA production as needed, including part removal, support removal, cleaning, curing, sanding, and staging.
  • Coordinate with finishing, painting, quality, and production personnel to keep jobs moving through production.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area with proper PPE, housekeeping, and process discipline.
  • Perform other additive manufacturing or production support tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, production, shop work, machine operation, finishing, assembly, or a related hands‑on technical field.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written work instructions.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and comfort working with production equipment.
  • Ability to handle small parts, track quantities, and keep jobs organized.
  • Ability to identify visible defects, damage, insert problems, or inconsistencies in finished parts.
  • Basic computer skills for job tracking, production records, and documentation.
  • Ability to work safely around powder handling, compressed air, heated tools, blasting equipment, and industrial machinery.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work both independently and under direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with additive manufacturing, 3D printing, MJF, SLS, SLA, FDM, or related production processes.
  • Experience with bead blasting, dyeing, sanding, support removal, resin cleaning, curing, heat‑set inserts, hardware installation, or other post‑processing methods.
  • Experience reading job travelers, drawings, work instructions, or inspection requirements.
  • Experience in a quality‑controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with hand tools, shop equipment, heated tools, pallet jacks, or material handling.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift and handle parts, powder containers, consumables, and production materials as required.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand work and detailed part handling.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work around powder handling, compressed air, heated tools, blasting equipment, resin systems, FDM equipment, and industrial machinery.
