Job Summary

The Electrical Assembly Technician will perform high-reliability soldering and electrical integration for a high-volume unmanned aircraft system (UAS) production program. Work includes heavy-gauge power wiring, XT-series connectors, electronic speed controllers, motor connections, capacitors, and related electrical assemblies. A current J-STD-001 certification is required. The successful candidate must be able to produce consistent, inspection-ready solder joints while meeting production-rate, traceability, and workmanship requirements.

This is a full-time contract position expected to last approximately 2–3 months, with potential conversion to full-time employment based on performance and business needs.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Perform soldering in accordance with J-STD-001 requirements and approved work instructions.
  • Cut, strip, prepare, and tin power and motor wiring.
  • Solder AWG 10 power wiring to XT90 connectors and electronic speed controllers.
  • Solder motor phase wires to ESC pads.
  • Prepare and solder polarized capacitors and related reinforcement conductors.
  • Verify connector, wire, capacitor, and ESC polarity before and after soldering.
  • Use soldering stations, fixtures, tweezers, side cutters, wire-preparation tools, magnification equipment, and related production tools.
  • Clean soldered assemblies using approved materials and processes.
  • Inspect solder joints before applying insulating varnish, liquid electrical tape, or other protective materials.
  • Perform continuity, polarity, and short-circuit checks.
  • Follow ESD-control requirements and maintain clean, organized workstations.
  • Complete production travelers and maintain material and assembly traceability.
  • Identify and document nonconforming solder joints or components.
  • Perform approved rework when authorized and properly documented.
  • Support line balancing, continuous improvement, and cross-training within the electrical production area.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • U.S. citizen (required due to defense and export-controlled program requirements).
  • Current J-STD-001 certification.
  • Demonstrated experience performing manual soldering in a production or high-reliability environment.
  • Experience soldering wires to connectors, terminals, or printed circuit board pads.
  • Ability to identify acceptable and unacceptable solder workmanship.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, polarity markings, and controlled work instructions.
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work consistently in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment.
  • Basic proficiency using a digital multimeter and electrical inspection equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for production records and work-order completion.
  • Preferred:
    Experience soldering heavy-gauge wire, including AWG 10 or similar conductors.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with XT60, XT90, or similar high-current connectors.
  • Preferred:
    Experience soldering motors, ESCs, capacitors, power-distribution components, or UAS electronics.
  • Preferred: IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or related cable and wire-harness experience.
  • Preferred:
    Experience working in an aerospace, defense, electronics, ISO 9001, or AS9100 production environment.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with controlled rework, ESD procedures, and serialized production documentation.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing detailed soldering and inspection work.
  • Ability to use magnification equipment and perform precise, fine-motor tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move parts, tools, and materials up to approximately 25–35 lbs as needed.
  • Work is performed on-site in an ESD-controlled manufacturing/production facility.

  • Minimal to no travel required for this position.
