Job Description

Garda World Security Services is now hiring a Tactical Security Officer in Fredericksburg, VA. Must have police or military police experience. An active armed DCJS credential is required. Please apply using an accessible email address and phone number for communication with a recruiter.

Ready to suit up as a Tactical Security Guard? This role focuses on reading the environment, anticipating risk, and acting accordingly. Ability to observe and communicate effectively is essential.

As a Security Officer – Tactical, physical ability is required as you will be moving throughout your shift, patrolling environments such as retail stores, airports, detention centers, and related sites.

This is a flex schedule and hours depend on site needs. Full-time hours are not guaranteed. Flexibility outside of schedule to cover trainings and events is important.

Responsibilities
  • Must have Tomahawk or Judgment Use of Force training experience
  • Must have Tasers training
  • Firearm proficiency of 90%
  • Maintain a commanding presence to deter threats (e.g., active shooters and workplace violence)
  • Respond to active shooter situations, hostage scenarios, bomb threats, etc.
  • Serve as initial point of contact for police, fire, and EMS during incidents
  • Maintain marksmanship and weapon handling; participate in live-fire training and drill scenarios
  • Demonstrate handgun operation, including disassembly and reassembly
  • Demonstrate Situational Awareness, Integrity, Fitness, and Excellent Communication
  • Provide excellent customer service; be warm and approachable while staying vigilant
  • Greet and acknowledge visitors and executives; maintain awareness of entrances and surroundings
  • Observe, survey, and report activity at the assigned location
  • Provide rapid response in critical situations
  • Read and write detailed reports
  • Enforce customer procedures, regulations, and standards as appropriate
  • Patrol sensitive areas to spot suspicious activity
  • Verify identities and control access to secure areas
  • React quickly to threats or incidents
  • Check proper functioning of alarms and cameras
  • Document incidents and actions taken
  • Respond to alarms and conduct on-site checks
  • Ensure the safety and protection of individuals and property
Qualifications
  • MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS OF US POLICE OFFICER EXPERIENCE OR MILITARY SPECIALIZING IN MILITARY POLICE OR TACTICAL UNITS
  • Ability to pass fitness and tactical trainings to work at the site
  • CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed Certifications
  • Ability to multitask and synthesize large amounts of information quickly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Active armed DCJS credential; secondary weapon training certifications (e.g., taser)
  • Must pass extensive background check, online armed assessments, gun range assessment, drug and physical assessments, and other trainings
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Soft skills to manage various personalities and maintain excellent uniform appearance
  • Pass a physical fitness test (running, push-ups, sit-ups, step-ups)
  • Pass baseline trainings, yearly refreshers, and psychological exams
  • High school education or equivalent (GED) or college degree/transcript
