School Resource Officer; DCJS L.E. Certified

School Resource Officer (DCJS L.E. Certified) – City Of Fredericksburg, Virginia

Salary: $30.77/hour – $46.11/hour (DOQ). Part‑time, 24 hrs/week.

• Law Enforcement and Safety – Primary point of contact for all calls for service from the school. Coordinate response of police resources and ensure safety of school administrators during incidents involving weapons, controlled substances, or risky student behavior. Provide information on crimes or leads to investigative units and stay informed about investigations involving students.
• Liaison and Communication – Provide valuable information on law‑enforcement matters to students and staff. Follow guidelines of the MOU with Fredericksburg City Public Schools and maintain communication when other units have served the school.
• Threat Assessment and Crime Prevention – Monitor students identified as subjects of concern. Collaborate with school administrators to address school crime and disorder, working with other city departments and community resources to implement solutions.
• Community Engagement and Support – Assist in problem‑solving to address school crime with community members. Promote and enrich youth’s lives through law‑related teaching and mentoring, respecting diverse backgrounds and cultures.

• VA DCJS Certified law officer.
• No more than two moving violations in the past 24 months.
• No current or prior revocations of license suspension in the past 60 months due to a moving violation.
• Undergo a background investigation with fingerprint‑based criminal history checks to both the CCRE and FBI.
• Undergo a physical examination after conditional offer.
• Polygraph examination.
• Complete Lawfit® course in 1 minute 36 seconds.
