Summary / Objective

Leads and oversees the fire protection field installation process for new construction projects, with a hands‑on, teacher‑and‑coach leadership approach. Responsible for ensuring fire protection systems are installed correctly, safely, and efficiently in accordance with design documents, codes, ACI standards, and project schedules. Actively mentors foremen, fitters, mechanics, and apprentices by providing clear instruction, field training, and constructive feedback to continuously improve workmanship, productivity and professional development.

Functions
  • Oversee fire protection field manpower to ensure construction efforts on fire protection projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day fire protection field personnel transfers from jobs to ensure quality, standards, and productivity.
  • Document and relay changes and problems, serving as a team member and leader.
  • Communicate with the construction team regarding open issues and progress during planning phases and the build process.
  • Focus on quality of output to meet the goals of the company vision.
  • Establish and maintain standards within the department.
  • Oversee hiring, training, performance appraisal, rewarding, disciplining, and complaint resolution for fire protection employees.
  • Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures, and standards are followed by the fire protection field staff.
  • Maintain fire protection field personnel log and documentation files.
  • Provide direction to planning, scheduling, and engineering functions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes

Required
  • 10 years of commercial fire protection supervision and 10 years of hands‑on fire protection trade work or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
  • Proficiency in fire protection field supervision.
  • High regard for safety standards and strong organizational skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of fire protection system installation.
  • Ability to take on challenges and work through adversity.
  • Ability to multi‑task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem‑solving skills.
  • Adherence to all company policy and procedures.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Availability to report to multiple job sites as required, including varying schedules that may require extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment
  • May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness.
  • May work in areas with exposure to moderate or high noise levels.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including dust.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights.
Physical Demands
  • This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools.
  • The employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Job requires frequent use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color‑coded cable/wires and have adequate vision and depth perception.
Travel
  • May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight).
Preferred
  • OSHA 30 and First Aid / CPR certification.
  • Fire protection Master's License (DPOR).
  • NICET Level I – ITM (Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance) certification.
  • NICET Level I – WBS (Water‑Based Fire Protection Systems) certification.
  • Prior military experience.
