The Anderson Company, LLC, a site development company for over 27 years, is seeking an experienced Pipe Layer to join their team in Fredericksburg, VA. The Pipelayer is responsible for installing underground utilities including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems. This role involves trench work, pipe installation, grading, and assisting equipment operators to ensure utilities are installed safely and according to project specifications.
If you have 2+ years of sewer pipe laying experience and can use laser equipment to check slopes and grades, this is a career you need to explore.

- Grade trenches or culverts by hand or with equipment.
- Provide hand signals to equipment operators during excavation and pipe placement.
- Position pipe and properly seal pipe joints.
- Check slopes and grades using lasers, builder’s levels, and transit levels.
- Cut pipe to required lengths using chop saws, handsaws, or other tools.
- Install and repair sanitary sewer and stormwater structures.
- Properly use and inspect rigging equipment.
- Grout pipes and ensure proper pipe stabilization.
- Raise boxes and manholes to finished grade.
- Install piping for water, storm, sewer, and conduit systems.
- Install and operate pipe lasers, grade rods, and transit levels.
- Dig trenches using hand tools or trenching equipment as needed.
- Locate existing underground utilities using shovels and other hand tools.
- Tap holes in manholes or pipes for service connections when required.
- Tighten mechanical joint fittings to specified tension.
- Mix and pour concrete for thrust blocks.
- Install compression fittings for water services.
- Install meter boxes and fire hydrants.
- Glue fittings using appropriate sealants.
- Follow all excavation safety guidelines and jobsite procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the job foreman or supervisor.
