What You’ll DoIn this role, you will be responsible for supporting waste management operations. Work assignments may include:
Crew Member I- Waste Collection and Management – Assist in collecting refuse, recycling, and debris and help load them onto collection trucks for efficient disposal.
- Container Distribution – Support the distribution of refuse and recycling containers to enhance recycling efforts.
- Refuse Collection – Responsible for collecting residential and commercial refuse and recycling on designated routes, ensuring materials are handled and disposed of correctly. Also, distribute refuse containers and materials to residents as needed.
- Equipment Operation – Operate sanitation vehicles and equipment to support collection activities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications &Special Requirements :
Crew Member I
- Educational background equivalent to a high school diploma.
- A valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license.
- Must possess, or have the ability to obtain VDOT-approved Basic Work Zone Traffic Control certification within one (1) year of hire.
- Must complete and maintain OSHA-required training and certifications applicable to the position, including all assigned training within thirty (30) days of employment.
Special Requirements :
Crew Member Il
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- One (1) year of experience and/or training involving manual labor or successful progression from Crew Member I; or equivalent education, and/or experience.
- Must meet and maintain all minimum qualifications, licenses, certifications, and training requirements established for the preceding position within the Crew Member career ladder.
- Must possess a VDOT-approved Basic Work Zone Traffic Control certification.
- Must complete and maintain OSHA-required training and certifications applicable to the position, including all assigned training within thirty (30) days in position.
- A valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class
B.
This essential position involves working around heavy equipment and traffic in outdoor conditions that may include heat, cold, rain, and dirt. Employees are expected to follow established safety procedures and may assist with emergency response activities as needed.
