Embedded Systems/ Firmware/ IoT, Robotics, Unix/Linux, Embedded Software Engineer
We are seeking a passionate Control Systems / Embedded Software Engineer to join our robotics engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across both software and hardware, developing embedded control systems while actively participating in hands‑on debugging and system integration.
You will contribute to the full software development lifecycle—from architecture and design to implementation, testing, and deployment, for advanced robotic systems. Success in this role requires a collaborative mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for working with real hardware.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for robotic and control systems.
- Develop software in C, C++, and Python for embedded Linux environments.
- Design and implement real‑time control algorithms.
- Build and maintain device drivers and board support packages.
- Develop applications using ROS (Robot Operating System).
- Debug and integrate complex robotic systems across software, electrical, and mechanical domains.
- Interface with motors, sensors, and communication peripherals.
- Work with communication protocols including CAN, RS232/422/485, and TCP/IP
. - Utilize debugging equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other embedded development tools.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams throughout product development.
- Maintain software quality through version control using Git/Git Hub.
- Produce technical documentation for software architecture, testing, and implementation.
- Continuously learn and apply new technologies to improve system performance and reliability.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software or control systems engineering.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python

- Experience developing software on Linux and familiarity with Linux command‑line tools.
- Experience with Git/Git Hub.
- Knowledge of real‑time embedded systems.
- Experience designing and implementing control algorithms.
- Proficiency with MATLAB, Octave, or Python scientific libraries (Num Py, Sci Py, Matplotlib).
- Experience with embedded hardware, motor control, and sensor integration.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, RS232/422/485, and TCP/IP.
- Experience using embedded debugging and test equipment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with motion planning.
- Experience with unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).
- Knowledge of localization, mapping, and autonomous navigation.
- Experience with software safety and reliability.
- Experience with electronics design tools such as Altium Designer or similar.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
. - An active Secret Clearance is preferred but not required.
We're looking for engineers who enjoy far more than writing code. The ideal candidate is excited to work directly with hardware, troubleshoot real‑world systems, and solve challenging robotics problems. This role is best suited for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment, enjoys cross‑functional collaboration, and takes ownership from concept through integration and testing.
A strong technical background will open the door—but curiosity, initiative, and a passion for building and debugging robotic systems are what truly set successful candidates apart.
