Head Coach

Tsunami Swimming seeks an experienced and passionate Head Coach to lead our USA Swimming competitive team and support our broader swim programs. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone committed to athlete development, both in performance and character.

Tsunami Swimming is a nonprofit, board‑governed, head‑coach‑led swim team located in Fredericksburg, VA, serving 90+ team swimmers and over 300 program participants. Our mission is to foster a lifelong love of swimming in a supportive, inclusive environment.

• Coach swimmers of all levels, on-deck 6 days/week and present at meets

• Plan, write, and lead seasonal and annual training plans, practices, and team development strategies for all groups

• Oversee and mentor coaching staff and instructors across all programs

• Support team operations: scheduling, parent communication, meet planning

• Coordinate with the Board, pool staff, and volunteers on program needs

• Attend and report at board meetings

• 5+ years coaching experience; head coach experience preferred

• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

• Current USA Swimming coaching certifications, or ability to obtain

• Background check required

• Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 commensurate with experience

• Annual COLA and potential for bonuses

• Work related travel and certification expenses covered
