Transit Operators – Part Time - CDL Required

STARTING HOURLY RATE: $19.99

Responsible for transporting passengers on designated routes within the transit system’s service area, including the City of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, and Stafford County. The Transit Operator is responsible for the safety of customers and equipment, providing good customer service, overseeing passenger safety, fare collection, working independently with minimal supervision, maintaining bus schedule adherence, arriving on time to work, assisting passengers as needed, completing daily pre‑trip and vehicle inspections, cleaning and fueling the vehicle, and checking to ensure all equipment is in safe operating condition.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED equivalent, bus driver training and at least one (1) year of experience driving a commercial or passenger vehicle preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination and maintain this while employed with FRED Transit, pass a criminal record check, and meet physical abilities testing requirements.

The position will require a CDL and will involve weekend work. Employment is subject to post‑hiring random drug testing in accordance with Department of Transportation requirements.
