Position Purpose
The CDL Driver & Crane Operator at SRS Building Products ensures safe, efficient transport and delivery of building materials to job sites. Responsibilities include operating trucks, cranes, and forklifts; performing DOT-compliant inspections; coordinating with rooftop loaders; and maintaining accurate documentation. The role also involves customer interaction and warehouse support to uphold service and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Safely deliver building materials within a 200-mile radius, following DOT regulations and company policies
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles, cranes, and forklifts
- Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment, ensuring accurate, damage-free deliveries
- Coordinate with rooftop loaders and support warehouse operations
- Verify inventory, document deliveries with photos, and assess job sites for safety risks
- Provide excellent on‑site customer service
- Support yard maintenance and warehouse tasks
Reports directly to the Assistant Branch Manager or Operations Manager.
Travel RequirementsFrequent travel within a 200-mile radius with all trips starting and ending at the home branch; drivers return home daily with no overnight stays.
Physical Requirements- Lifting up to 100 pounds regularly
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Operating commercial vehicles, cranes, and navigating ladders and confined spaces
- Tolerating high noise levels
Fast‑paced, field‑based role with strong organization, communication, and customer interaction required to meet delivery deadlines and ensure satisfaction at varied job sites.
Minimum Qualifications- Valid CDL driver’s license with air brakes endorsement
- Proficiency in routine maintenance and safety checks
- Basic mechanical systems knowledge
- Experience operating conveyor belts, knuckle booms, or crane‑equipped trucks
- Forklift operation experience; certification preferred
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and OSHA safety standards
- Proficient verbal and written English
- Skilled in pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections
- Ability to conduct job site inspections and report conditions
- Adherence to safety protocols
- Clean driving record (no hit-and-run, DWI, or DUI in the past 36 months)
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Professional crane operation experience
- Strong time and route management skills
- Experience with boom cranes, piggyback forklifts, and conveyor systems
- Deep knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations

Base salary typically ranges from $28.65 to $37.21 per hour, with variations based on location, education, training, and experience. Hourly associates may be eligible for overtime, performance‑based bonuses, commissions, car allowance or automobile and fuel program, and reimbursement for travel expenses in accordance with company travel policy.
