The School for Business and Society is an interdisciplinary school, combining the collective strengths from the University of York Management School and the Department of Social Policy & Social Work. Role

As a member of the Professional Services Administrative team, you will be the first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors, providing a friendly and approachable reception service. You will provide support and advice, and redirect queries where relevant. You will need to confidently use a variety of IT systems and digital platforms to support your work. As a busy and varied role, you will need to have the ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines, all whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

You will be required to be flexible according to the needs and resources of the Administrative team, supporting other colleagues in times of high workload.

This is a fixed-term contract for 9 months.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed
  • Level 2 qualification (Qualifications at this level include five GCSEs at grade A*-C/ grade 4-9). We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-UK qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the routine practices and procedures used in an administrative office
  • Ability to deal with confidential information appropriately
  • Experience of using digital technologies including Google applications and/or Microsoft Office
  • You will be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats
  • Demonstrable experience in the ability to effectively organise and prioritise own work and follow procedures, in order to produce work to a high standard, to required deadlines
