The Thrive Food Rescue Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and management of Thrive Food Rescue Centre (TFRC) operations. This role oversees all aspects of warehouse activities—including receiving, processing, packing, shipping, and inventory control—while driving operational excellence, ensuring safety compliance, and maximizing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Oversee all aspects of daily operations, ensuring efficient and accurate order fulfillment, receiving, processing, packing, and shipping.
Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and minimize errors.
Team Leadership & Management
Lead and manage a team of volunteers and staff to ensure effective daily operations.
Address performance and training needs while identifying opportunities for staff development.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and productive work environment.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and Greener Village safety policies.
Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
Foster a strong safety culture within the FRC.
Technology & Innovation
Utilize data and analytics to identify operational improvements and support decision‑making.
Support the adoption of technology and systems that improve workflow and efficiency.
Budget & Resource Management
Contribute to the development and management of the budget.
Ensure responsible use of resources to meet operational and financial goals.
Skills & Competencies
Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high‑performing team.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem‑Solving: Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities to identify and resolve operational challenges.
Organization: Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Qualifications
Education:
Post‑secondary degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and at least three years of relevant experience.
Certification: Valid Food Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the food, warehouse, or logistics industry.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, lift, and reach.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
Compensation
This is a full‑time permanent unionized position. The hours will be flexible at 40 hrs/week schedule to be determined by organizational and community needs
