Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Prospect and identify new sales opportunities within the Canadian SMB landscape, focusing on driving net‑new customer acquisition.
  • Conduct outbound activities including cold calling, emailing, and networking to generate a robust sales pipeline.
  • Leverage a consultative sales approach to understand customer needs, deliver tailored presentations, and propose solutions that solve HR and payroll challenges.

Territory Management

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to maximize territory potential and meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Identify key market segments and verticals within the Canadian SMB space, targeting prospects with the greatest potential for growth.
  • Track and report on sales activity and territory performance, adjusting the approach as needed to optimize results.

Shaping Sales Strategy and Process

  • Contribute to the development of outbound sales strategies, shaping the approach for engaging prospects and closing deals in collaboration with Field Marketing.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership and marketing to refine sales content, messaging, and tools to enhance the effectiveness of outbound efforts.
  • Provide feedback on market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform product development and go‑to‑market strategies.

Sales Execution

  • Manage the full sales cycle, from initial outreach to contract negotiation and closing.
  • Present product demos and proposals to prospective clients, highlighting the benefits and value of our payroll and HR solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records in the CRM system, keeping data up‑to‑date on sales activities, leads, and opportunities.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in outbound sales, preferably in software, technology, or SaaS with a focus on payroll, HR, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of success in a "hunter" sales role, consistently meeting or exceeding new business targets.
  • Experience selling to the Canadian SMB market, with a deep understanding of their unique needs and challenges.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong prospecting and lead generation skills, including cold calling and networking.
  • Excellent negotiation and closing skills, with the ability to handle objections and close deals effectively.
  • Self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, and resilient, with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced sales environment.
  • Strategic thinker who can identify opportunities, prioritize efforts, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and other sales tools for managing pipeline and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with payroll or HR software solutions is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian business landscape, including relevant regulations and market trends.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
Key Performance Indicators
