Responsibilities
Technical Practice
Travel to a variety of project sites ranging from undisturbed habitats to previously developed sites to conduct and lead the baseline biophysical evaluations. The assessments could include;
Terrestrial habitat surveys
Aquatic habitat surveys (including fish and fish habitat)
Wetland delineations and functional assessments
Bird and bird habitat surveys
Bat and bat habits surveys
Vegetation surveys
Document your assessments to present a holistic view of the project sites.
Support the development of environmental protection measures, environmental monitoring programs, rehabilitation and offsetting projects including research, field work, and technical report writing.
Coordinate with other project team members toward the successful execution of projects with a positive, problem‑solving attitude.
Learning & Development
Continued development of technical skills across a variety of fields of biology.
Continued development of leadership skills and business acumen.
Contribution to the career development of less tenured staff, including technical direction and training recommendations.
Contribution to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
Qualifications
An undergraduate degree in biology, ecology or a related environmental sciences field.
A minimum of 1 year of demonstrated professional experience in environmental consulting, industrial, regulatory, or academic setting, or related field with the specific emphasis on environmental assessment and permitting for development proposals.
Valid driver’s license (Class
5).
Excellent communication and report writing skills.
Excellent oral and written communication, critical thinking, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in English. Working knowledge of French would be considered an asset.
