Kingsclear-Municipal Limited Partnership (KMLP), a member of the Municipal Group of Companies is seeking Apprentice Heavy Equipment Operators to support construction of renewable energy projects in the Juniper (Fredericton) NB Area.
KMLP through membership in the Municipal Group is firmly embedded in the construction industry of Eastern Canada and as an organization we have been operating in the region for well over 50 years.
As part of New Brunswick’s transition to renewable energy, KMLP has been awarded a variety of projects in the region to support large scale wind farm development. Our work typically includes a variety of civil construction tasks including road building, water crossings, cast-in-place concrete, pre-cast concrete installation, and various other earthworks.
Under the guidance of the Foreman and experienced operators, the Apprentice Heavy Equipment Operator will assist with the safe operation of heavy equipment while learning the skills, techniques, and best practices required for a successful career in the construction industry. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are eager to gain hands‑on experience, develop operating skills, and grow within the industry.
PrimaryDuties and Responsibilities
- Assist experienced operators with the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment on construction sites
- Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip equipment inspections under supervision
- Learn proper operating procedures for various types of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, and other machinery
- Assist with site preparation, excavation, grading, material handling, and other construction activities
- Help direct and coordinate equipment movement on the worksite while maintaining awareness of surrounding personnel and hazards
- Follow site plans, grade stakes, and instructions provided by supervisors
- Maintain clean and organized equipment, tools, and work areas
- Learn and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations
- Participate in training and on‑the‑job learning opportunities to develop operating skills and industry knowledge
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team
- Strong interest in learning heavy equipment operation and construction practices
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather and site conditions
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks when required
- Strong attention to safety and situational awareness
- Effective communication skills with supervisors and co‑workers
- Reliability, dependability, and a positive attitude
- Willingness to participate in apprenticeship training and certification requirements
- No prior heavy equipment operating experience required; training will be provided
- High school diploma or equivalent training considered an asset
- Previous construction, labour, or equipment‑related experience is an asset but not mandatory
- Valid driver’s license considered an asset
- Recent graduates of heavy equipment training course considered an asset
The Apprentice Heavy Equipment Operator role is physically demanding and requires lifting, pulling, and moving heavy objects and equipment. The position requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hardhat, steel‑toe boots, and reflective vest. Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
