We are currently seeking a Fibre Optic Splicer Technician to join our operations in a permanent
, full-time position in Canada and the United States
.
The Fibre Optic Splicer Technician is involved in all facets of fibre splicing, including cable preparation, termination, fusion‑splicing, testing and troubleshooting.
This role requires a willingness to travel, a minimum of 40 hours per week, a valid driver’s license, a reasonable driver’s abstract and the ability to work under diverse conditions. While travelling across the Atlantic provinces, the company provides daily per diem and accommodations.
Duties & Responsibilities- Splice aerial and buried fibre optic networks.
- Test and troubleshoot fibre optic networks.
- Document and report on work completed.
- Maintain project and safety documentation.
- Ensure all work is clearly labelled.
- Demonstrated ability to work at heights.
- Strong manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces and isolation.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere.
- Carry, raise and climb a ladder.
- Carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels).
- Self‑disciplined, self‑motivated and organized.
- Valid driver’s license (Class DZ/3) and willingness to obtain an airbrakes endorsement.
- Reasonable driver abstract.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends or on emergency call‑outs as required.
- Travel capability; company provides paid accommodations and a daily per‑diem.
- Pass a criminal record check.
- Authorized to work without visa sponsorship.
- 3+ years of live circuit experience.
- Single fibre splicing and mass fusion splicing of outside‑plant fibre networks.
- Experience using fibre optic testing tools such as power meter, OTDR and live fibre detectors.
- Preference for those with additional experience in FTTX / FTTH projects.
- Working knowledge of safe approach limits in communication space.
- Compensation commensurate with experience and skill level.
- Pay delivered every week on Thursdays.
