Automotive Painter

Job Overview
Irving Equipment Limited, part of J.D. Irving Ltd, offers heavy lift and specialized transport services across Atlantic Canada. We are recruiting an Auto Body Technician and Painter in Saint John, New Brunswick to support our projects on mobile and crawler cranes and other specialized equipment.

Responsibilities

Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and applying primers or sealants.

Repair or replace damaged parts.

Select and mix paints to achieve desired color and texture, following specifications.

Apply paint to various surfaces using spray guns, brushes, or rollers, ensuring even coverage.

Use masking tape and materials to protect non‑painted areas.

Monitor and maintain painting equipment, including cleaning and minor repairs.

Follow safety protocols for handling and disposing of paint.

Maintain accurate records of paint usage, job progress, and completion times.

Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding job requirements and specifications.

Install decals/graphics on equipment.

Qualifications

Journeyperson Auto Body Technician preferred; apprentices considered.

Knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and equipment.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

Physical strength and stamina; able to work in various positions, heights, and environments.
