Michael Anzano Memorial Scholarship

MICHAEL ANZANO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: (Colts Neck, Freehold Township, and Howell High School Students)

Michael Anzano was a senior in the Class of 2004 at Colts Neck High School. On 11/12/03, he was suddenly taken away from us in a tragic automobile accident. Michael was not only a talented artist, musician and athlete, but also a great friend to all. Mike’s kindness, generosity, outstanding humor, passion for art, and fabulous smile touched so many people in so many different ways.

In addition to his devotion to art, he loved the game of basketball and was known as #22 to many of his peers. This was the number of his school jersey. For this reason, the scholarship award will be in the amount of $2,200. This scholarship is intended as a way to honor his name and allow for Michael’s creative, fun-loving spirit to live on.

One (1) scholarship will be awarded each year. The student must be a graduating senior at Colts Neck, Freehold Township or Howell High School. This scholarship is awarded in memory of Michael Anzano who always made the lives of others better, whether it was through his friendship, inspiration or just his warm, wonderful smile.

Selection Criteria

• Be a graduating senior in good standing from either Colts Neck, Freehold Township or Howell High School;
• Have been accepted into an accredited program that will lead to a skill, trade, or profession;
• Have demonstrated outstanding character and some level of commitment to the arts, extracurricular activities, or athletes.

Application Criteria

• A brief description explaining himself/herself, his/her goals, and why he/she should be considered for this scholarship. Additionally, the applicant may submit some form of art including, but not limited to, painting, music, and other forms of creative expression. All artistic representations should not exceed 8 ½ by 14 inches in size. Photographic renditions are acceptable.
• An application for financial need; and
• Two (2) letters of recommendation which address the applicant’s character and enthusiasm.

Selections will be made by the Anzano family and the Michael Anzano Scholarship Committee. All monies awarded will be paid directly to the individual selected by the committee. All decisions of the scholarship committee are final.
