Award Amount: $1,500.00 (up to 3 awards per academic year, $1,500 each)
About BobbyBobby had a love of food that he shared throughout his life with both his family and his vast circle of friends. He attended the French Culinary Institute in NYC. Throughout his career he strived to cook the most authentic Italian cuisine which he loved to share with everyone. For many years, he owned and was head chef at Danielle s An Italian Bistro in Chatham, NJ.
Aboutthe Scholarship
The Robert "Bobby" Alviggi Culinary Arts Scholarship was established in loving memory of Robert Alviggi. The award will be a one-time scholarship of $1,500.00 per recipient to attend a school of higher education of his/her choice. The recipient of this scholarship will be a student who demonstrates enthusiasm for learning along with a passion for the culinary arts and has demonstrated the ability to overcome setbacks, which has allowed them to persevere and grow from that experience.
EligibilityCriteria
- Must be a graduating senior from Freehold Boro High School Culinary Program
- Students must choose one topic from the following and write an essay between 500 - 1,000 words:
- Why are you applying for this scholarship?
- Choose a negative experience from your own life and explain how you overcame any obstacles arising from this situation. What impact, if any, has that experience influenced your choice to pursue culinary art?
- If you have ever been employed in the culinary arts industry, what advice would you give to someone else who is considering pursuing a career in culinary arts?
- (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher, preferably a culinary arts teacher (but not required).
- Copy of your most current high school transcript
- Resume of your extracurricular activities
