Position Overview

Title: Teacher of Diesel Mechanics

Position Type: Certificated - Instructional/Teacher of Diesel Engine Technology

Location: Hazlet Shared Time Campus, Hazlet NJ

Date Available: Immediate

Qualifications
  • Diesel Engine Technician/Technology (4183) Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility or four years of eligible industry experience and willingness to attain certification through Alternate Route to Teaching program.
  • ASE certification and knowledge of EPA 609 program preferred.
Salary

Salary: $59,460.00 - $98,170.00

Performance Responsibilities
  • Techniques of Education – The Teacher will employ appropriate instructional and evaluative techniques and make use of instructional materials in the classroom.
  • Subject Competency/Professional Growth – The Teacher will take advantage of opportunities to enhance his/her professional knowledge and instructional qualifications in the subject or teaching areas for which he/she is responsible.
  • Planning and Preparation – The Teacher will be responsible for the appropriate planning and preparation for teaching his/her classes.
  • Classroom Control – The Teacher will establish procedures of control and conflict resolution to allow a maximum of teaching and a minimum of disciplinary action with due consideration given to the composition of a class.
  • Teacher-Pupil Relationship – The Teacher will develop a climate that enhances the respect of teacher-student relationship as well as respect among student peers.
  • Classroom Management – The Teacher will have the responsibility for compiling reports, maintaining records and the physical environment of the classroom.
  • Contribution to Total School Effort – The Teacher has the responsibility to cooperate with the administration and associates in school activities that enhance the operation of the school district.
  • Curriculum Development – The Teacher will take an active part in continuing curriculum evaluation and revision.
  • Safety Program – The Teacher will implement the district's safety program to provide a safe environment in the operation of vocational education.
  • Performs Other Duties – The Teacher will assume responsibility of other professional duties as assigned by the administration within the scope of terms of employment and certification.
  • Terms of Employment

    Ten month position in accordance with MCVEA contract.

    Evaluation

    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of certificated staff.
