Special Education Teacher - Elementary Grade Levels - PK

Position Overview

Position Type: Instruction/Special Education Resource Teacher

Location: Park Avenue Elementary School

• New Jersey Certification as Teacher of Students with Disabilities and/or Teacher of Handicapped required
• K‑6th Teaching Certification
• Pre K‑3rd Teaching Certification (preferred)

Terms: Tenure Track 10‑month position

• Two years teaching experience with Strong Knowledge of NJ Teaching Standards
• Elementary experience teaching in a special education setting (in class, pull out, self‑contained)
• Experience with developing programming and development of student programs for evidence based learning strategies
• Experience in developing IEP goals and objectives, modified curriculum needs and behavioral supports within the classroom setting (behavior plans, reward systems, reinforcement strategies, and classroom management)
• Understanding of Special Education programs, modifications, and accommodations
• Knowledge and experience with IEP writing, progress report writing, LRE and related services within the school setting
• Demonstrate strong speaking, writing and interpersonal communication skills
• Work cooperatively with subject area teachers

Salary: Salary Guide Step 1: BA $58,197 MA $60,613 MA+30 $ 63,029. Salary commensurate with experience.
