Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Work is highly independent. Will assume a team lead/mentoring role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters.
Manages the design, installation, optimization, and enhancement of electronic control systems and instruments to automate and monitor industrial processes.
Develops technical designs, process diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, and control schematics to implement automation controls.
Configures systems using PLC and HMI techniques.
Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions.
Oversees and coordinates project resources for system start-ups, maintenance and upgrades.
Ensures that instrument data sheets, wiring designs, drawings, and plans are documented.
Oversees and schedules PLC technician assignments.
Responsible for HR responsibilities such as; time card approvals, performance reviews, and expense approvals.
All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:Associate degree and/or technical school certification received with industry experience is preferred OR Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred.
10+ years' controls engineering experience; material handling or manufacturing experienced preferred.
Expert-level working knowledge of PLC Programming (Allen Bradley, RSLogix 5000)
Strong experience with design, inter-connection and configuration of PLCs systems
Strong experience working with Conveyor and Robotic Systems within material handling or manufacturing environments preferred.
Strong HMI Development experience preferred.
Strong working experience and understanding of Electrical Design and Engineering
Demonstratable experience providing guidance/mentorship to other team members is required.
Working Conditions:Travel to customer sites 20% annually
Some weekend/night work required as needed
Standing and walking for long periods of time
Occasional climbing on steps, scaffolding and/or mezzanines
Sitting in and/or driving a vehicle for a long period of time
Working with computers for a long period of time
Working in office, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities
Possible exposure to noise levels exceeding recommended DBA levels
