Municipal Prosecutor

Job Summary

Municipal Prosecutor serves as the lead litigation counsel for the township in its municipal court, responsible for prosecuting motor vehicle violations, disorderly persons offenses, municipal ordinance violations, DWI/DUI cases and other matters within the municipal court’s jurisdiction. This role will oversee case strategy, manage the prosecutorial team (including assistants), coordinate with the municipal court administrator and law enforcement, draft pleadings and appeals as necessary, and represent the township in bench and jury trials.

The Municipal Prosecutor will ensure legal compliance, efficient case resolution and maintenance of high standards of prosecutorial ethics.

• Licensed attorney in good standing in New Jersey.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in municipal court practice (either as prosecutor or defense attorney) with a track record of managing complex municipal cases.
• Deep knowledge of New Jersey statute law, municipal ordinances, motor vehicle and traffic code, domestic violence/DWI cases and prosecutorial procedures.
• Excellent leadership, judgment, litigation and negotiation skills.
• Strong written and oral advocacy; ability to supervise, delegate and mentor junior attorneys.
