Role OverviewThe Facilities Manager leads the facility, utilities, and equipment operations for Legend USA Pipeline and Corporate locations, supporting both non‑GxP and early‑phase clinical operations (GxP). The role develops, implements, and maintains processes, procedures, and systems for maintenance and building operations, manages the internal facilities group and external contractors, and serves as a departmental representative on cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities- Interface with operating departments to identify and address internal stakeholder needs, ensuring the maintenance team supports manufacturing, facility, and utility operations.
- Direct management of the facilities team, providing technical expertise, direction, and professional support.
- Schedule and oversee maintenance of mechanical systems and building operations, including utilities, purified water systems, boilers, compressed air systems, HVAC systems, and material storage chambers.
- Schedule and provide calibration support for process and laboratory equipment.
- Manage facilities programs, procedures, and work practices in compliance with cGxP, including preventative maintenance, on‑demand maintenance, asset lifecycle, calibration, equipment monitoring, alarm/failure response, and documentation within a CMMS.
- Coordinate licenses, inspections, and permitting in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Represent the department as a subject matter expert on cross‑functional teams for general operations and new initiatives.
- Make operational decisions for routine or planned activities within the departmental budget, and provide input to strategic planning and budget development.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical/GMP facility; aseptic experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of management experience in a maintenance or facilities department.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation/controls.
- Minimum low‑pressure black seal boiler license required within one year of hire.
- Experience with maintenance and calibration of building operations and process & laboratory equipment.
- Proficiency in CMMS and building management systems.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, integrate cross‑functional issues, and balance competing priorities.
- Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Quality management knowledge, including change control, deviation, and CAPA processes.
- Knowledge of EHS and regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, FDA).
- Ability to develop relationships with internal customers and external vendors.
- Understanding of qualification and validation practices.
