Oncology 3 East at Centra State Medical Center offers an exciting and evolving work environment, with the unit recently expanding from 11 to 25 beds. This growth, supported by our partnership with Atlantic Health System, brings enhanced educational opportunities for staff and expanded care options for patients. Our dedicated nursing team works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary group to care for a wide range of oncology and hospice patients, including those receiving chemotherapy.

With self-scheduling and a strong emphasis on accountability and staff engagement, 3 East fosters a culture of teamwork and shared decision-making.

Oncology 3 East currently has an opportunity available for a
Registered Nurse (RN). The RN provides culturally sensitive, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with ANA standards, the NJ Practice Act, Joint Commission requirements, and Centra State policies and procedures. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN delivers patient-centered care and evaluates its effectiveness through nurse-sensitive indicators and patient outcomes. Orientation includes completion of Cardiac and Respiratory Courses, ACLS, Centra State IV Course, and CPR certification.

Care is delivered through a multidisciplinary, patient-focused model.

Responsibilities

• Provides considerate respectful care focused upon the patient's individual needs to ensure patient satisfaction.
• Affirms the patient's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care, including the decision to discontinue treatment, to the extent permitted by law.
• Successfully completes life-span education as appropriate.
• Obtains a complete nursing history and baseline assessment that is systematic, consistent and continuous. This assessment is communicated effectively utilizing Hand-off policy and documented.
• Documents results of patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care plan nursing interventions and evaluation and patient progress in medical record according to hospital/nursing policy and the Nursing Standards of Care/Practice for the specific patient type.
• Appropriately analyzes patient information /assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and needs for appropriate nursing care, medical intervention or services of other clinical professionals.
