American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology unit requiring chemo certification and NJ or compact RN license.
Details- Inpatient oncology unit caring for chemo patients, patients with past/present cancer diagnoses, and inpatient hospice patients requiring general inpatient care
- Unit does not accept patients with infections that may compromise the oncology population, COVID-19, airborne isolation, or peritoneal dialysis patients
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
- Every other weekend (Sat/Sun) required
- Every other holiday required
- Floating to other Med/Surg/Tele units as needed, with a designated home unit
- Epic EMR experience required
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card required (Fundamental course not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Proficiency in IV/infusion therapy including port access, central-line care, PICC lines, and infusion pumps
- Chemotherapy administration and monitoring experience, including continuous infusion, IV push, and oral chemo
- Experience managing chemo-related emergencies such as anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, tumor lysis syndrome, and neutropenic precautions
- Skilled in symptom management including nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, dysphagia, and altered mental status
- Experience with pain management medications including IV-push narcotics and transdermal patches
- Skilled in care coordination, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Psychosocial care experience including advance directives, hospice care, and patient/family education
- Provide oncology and medical-surgical nursing care, including cardiac monitoring for patients
- Unit features 14 private rooms, ceiling lifts, and negative/positive-pressure rooms for infection control
- Scrubs of any color permitted
- Flu vaccine required; medical/religious exemptions accepted with mask requirement

- Up to two consecutive PTO days may be requested during winter RTO period (Dec 15-Jan
5), with additional requests considered case-by-case
