Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Oncology Chemo Certified RN requiring an ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card and NJ or compact license.

Details
  • MS/Tele Oncology Chemo Certified unit caring for chemo patients, past/present cancer diagnoses, and inpatient hospice patients
  • Unit does not accept patients with infections that may compromise the oncology population, COVID-19, airborne isolation, or peritoneal dialysis needs
  • 1:6 patient ratios
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Every other weekend requirement (Sat/Sun)
  • Every other holiday requirement
  • Floating to other MS/Tele units as needed, with a designated home unit
  • Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
Requirements
  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card required (Fundamental course not accepted); may be obtained before assignment start if confirmed in advance
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • Skilled in IV/infusion therapies including port access, PICC/central/implanted-line care, and infusion pumps
  • Experienced in chemotherapy administration and monitoring, including IV push, continuous infusion, and oral chemo
  • Knowledgeable in management of chemo-related emergencies such as anaphylaxis, extravasation, sepsis, and ATLS
  • Skilled in symptom management including neuropathy, neutropenic precautions, and nausea/vomiting
  • Experienced with pain management medications including IV-push narcotics and transdermal patches
  • Proficient in additional skills such as chest tubes, ostomy care, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telephone triage
  • Flu vaccine required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with mask use
Additional Information
  • Provide oncology and medical-surgical nursing care including cardiac monitoring for patients with cancer diagnoses or receiving chemotherapy
  • Engage in patient/family education, psychosocial support, and end-of-life care coordination including hospice and advance directives
  • Collaborate with pediatric and interdisciplinary teams as needed
  • Unit includes 14 private rooms, ceiling lifts, and negative/positive pressure rooms for infection control
  • Unit has earned the national Silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses
  • Scrubs of any color permitted
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
