Position: Full-Time Cosmetology Instructor
Cosmetology Instructor (Full-time, Tenure Track)

Highland Community College, located in the scenic northwest corner of Illinois, is seeking a Cosmetology Instructor for a full-time, tenure-track position for the Fall 2026 semester This position will deliver high-quality instruction in cosmetology courses and support student development in both classroom and practical settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a variety of cosmetology courses offered by the college
  • Provide classroom and hands-on instruction to students
  • Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials
  • Evaluate student performance and provide feedback
  • Maintain a safe and effective learning environment
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support program success
Qualifications

Required:
  • Valid Illinois Cosmetology License
  • Cosmetology Instructors License
  • Ability and willingness to teach the full cosmetology curriculum
Preferred:
  • Prior teaching experience
  • 2+ years of professional salon experience
  • Professional experience or instructional background in Nail Technology strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong communication and instructional skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate students
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Knowledge of current cosmetology practices and standards
Work Environment / Schedule
  • Work schedule:

    Up to 40 hours per week
  • Hours:

    Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Work hours may vary based on scheduling needs

Salary & Benefits:
  • Salary Range: $59,301 - $126,786
