Job Description
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for procurement of all the facility needs in addition to the management of master procurement data and government compliance for the supply base.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Manage procurements for all facility related items to satisfy business needs while complying with government, quality system and company policy requirements.
- Work in partnership with Manufacturing to assure all production requirements are met.
- Conduct ERP analysis and planning through order placement and management including the following: analyze purchase requisitions; initiate RFQs/RFPs; review bids; select vendors; negotiate terms & conditions of items to be purchased.
- Manage day to day supplier issues.
- Maintain purchasing master data in ERP system and complete required documentation associated with government procedures.
- Manage supplier evaluation and supplier certification process.
- Support on-time delivery and production productivity by maintaining an effective supply chain.
- Facilitate solutions to schedule changes and commercial/technical issues with suppliers.
- Coordinate any vendor invoicing issues.
- Perform processes in accordance with all GTC and ISO requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in the supply chain’s quality, delivery, and costs to improve sourcing activities and inventory reduction.
- Completes special assignments as required to help achieve department or facility goals.
Bachelor’s degree desired. High School Diploma required.
Experience- Minimum two years direct related experience.
- Supply Chain Management discipline preferred.
- APICS/CPM certification desired.
- SAP MRP system experience desired.
- GTC and ISO experience preferred.
- Strong organizational interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task Strong communication and team-working skills.
- Experience in developing commodity strategies.
- Ability to influence peers and lead cross functional teams.
- Proven results in driving supplier improvement and implementing cost reduction programs.
- Excellent analytical and negotiating skills.
- Self-starter, possessing high degree of self-motivation and bias for action.
- Strong Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills. Microsoft Excel skills highly desirable.
