Machine Operator (Grinder)
Our customer in Freeport, Illinois is seeking motivated individuals to join their team. We’re recruiting a Machine Operator (Grinder) to work full-time on 2nd shift (3:00pm–11:00pm). As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for precision grinding operations to produce high-quality components that meet exact specifications.
Responsibilities of the Machine Operator (Grinder)- Set up and operate industrial grinding machines, including CNC equipment.
- Shape, smooth, and polish materials to exact design specifications.
- Mount abrasive grinding wheels and select appropriate tooling.
- Set machine speeds, feed rates, and adjust holding fixtures based on job requirements.
- Monitor grinding operations to ensure tight tolerances are maintained.
- Interpret machine behavior and make real-time adjustments as needed.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain equipment and ensure safe, efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot issues related to machine performance and product quality.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of material behavior, wheel selection, speeds, and feeds.
- Knowledge of thermal effects and their impact on finished products.
- Ability to identify and correct issues such as taper, chatter, or burn.
- Acute attention to detail and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to interpret subtle process indicators such as sound, vibration, and part appearance.
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with CNC or similar complex machinery preferred.
- Ability to maintain consistent quality and production standards.
Pay for Machine Operator (Grinder):
Starting at $27/hour.
