Opportunity Summary

Dorcas Destiny International, a nonprofit serving vulnerable children and families in Kenya, seeks a seasoned volunteer advisor with a proven record in securing major corporate partnerships, shaping capital campaigns, and attracting institutional funding. The role focuses on strategic, pro‑bono counsel to position a transformational children’s home project for larger‑scale philanthropic investment, rather than general fundraising support. The organization is preparing to launch its first owned residential campus for 36 children, and requires professional guidance to strengthen the funding strategy for this milestone project.

• Develop a capital campaign case for support suitable for major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
• Create a target prospect list of 25–50 aligned corporate and foundation prospects, with emphasis on Chicagoland and national opportunities where appropriate.
• Recommend a corporate sponsorship strategy, including sponsorship levels and funding packages.
• Help shape key campaign messaging and value propositions tailored to institutional funders.

• Review and strengthen grant positioning for institutional funders.
• Advise on a grant prospecting strategy and/or assist with a strong sample proposal or proposal framework.
• Provide outreach tools such as sponsor approach templates or funder pitch language.

• Securing significant corporate sponsor ships.
• Leading or advising high‑value capital campaigns.
• Foundation and institutional grant fundraising at scale.
• Major gift strategy and case development.
• Experience helping early‑stage organizations become “investment ready” for transformative projects.

This project represents a major expansion of Dorcas Destiny International’s impact: the first wholly developed residential campus for children in Kenya. The campus will serve 36 children, providing safety, stability, care, education, and opportunity in a sustained, dignified environment. The project is already underway—children are being fed, planning is in progress, and the Kenya‑based team is advancing foundational work—so the volunteer’s expertise will directly strengthen the funding architecture required for implementation.
