Summary:
The delivery system practiced at FHN Memorial Hospital employs the concepts of differentiated nursing incorporating the PRIDE Standards as set forth by FHN. Coordinates and provides nursing care to identified patient population. Delegation, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are utilized to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Demonstrates competencies in accordance with specific performance standards.

- Accountable for accurate and timely medication administration.
- Interacts with physicians via rounds, procedures, and telephone interactions.
- Acknowledges orders electronically.
- Completes admission assessments.
- Develops nursing care plan based on objective and subjective patient information.
- Responsible for patient assessments being completed.
- Performs care rounds on each patient/family.
- Advises and mentors colleagues, including the teaching and supervising of nursing students.
- Relates with nursing service office regarding staffing needs.
- Demonstrates skills to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Demonstrates competencies in accordance with specific performance standards.
- Demonstrates clinical competency in providing age specific care to patients in designated areas of practice.
- Coordinates all aspects of patient care and outcomes as related to medication administration, education, therapeutic modalities, assessments, diagnostics, development and revision of care plans.
- Delegates to team members.
- Provides patient education directly or through delegation.
- Assures psychosocial needs are addressed.
- Assists with utilization/health management facilitating discharges.
- Participates in activities to support Network strategic objectives.
- Displays competency for the Registered Nurse role as evidenced in the annual performance review and departmental skill validations.
- Plans, monitors and evaluates the work of others.
Note: Education:
Associate’s degree (A.D.N.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, with a BSN preferred, or graduate from an accredited RN program; and related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois.
- BLS certification required. ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NIHSS certification may be required depending on department.
