Job Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) supports supplier quality, reliability, and technical compliance in alignment with Freeport LNG’s operational excellence. This position works closely with Quality, Procurement, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to execute supplier audits, conduct product inspections, and evaluate vendor performance. The SQE applies engineering judgment during supplier qualification, product inspections, and vendor audits with a focus on ensuring adherence to LNG-specific technical and regulatory requirements.

Location/Travel Information

This position is based at the Terminal Facilities, LQF or PTF, with travel to off‑site locations as required. Travel to include Domestic and International as needed (40% to 60%). This position requires the incumbent to hold a valid, unexpired driver license and passport at all times in order to perform the essential functions of the job.

Duties/Responsibilities

Audit and Inspection Execution:

  • Conduct supplier product audits, inspections, and performance reviews.
  • Verify repairs, FATs, and part inspections against engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Document audit findings and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Participate in hold and witness points during supplier inspections as required.
  • Support field inspections and supplier visits in collaboration with Maintenance and Engineering.

Supplier Qualification and Monitoring:

  • Lead or assist in the qualification of new suppliers through on‑site audits and documentation review.
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing and quality control processes for alignment with FLNG requirements.
  • Monitor ongoing supplier performance metrics, escalating quality concerns and trends to leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier approvals, certifications, and audit history.

Corrective Actions and Root Cause:

  • Support or lead root cause investigations for supplier non‑conformances, ensuring effective containment and long‑term actions are in place.
  • Verify closure and sustained effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track and report supplier non‑conformance data within FLNG quality systems.
  • Collect and analyze supplier quality data to identify recurring issues or systemic risks.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to drive process improvements and technical solutions.
  • Work with Procurement and Maintenance to improve repair quality and reduce repeat issues.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Review supplier quality documentation including inspection reports, certificates of compliance, and material traceability records.
  • Ensure suppliers meet FLNG requirements for documentation, quality records, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide input to internal teams on supplier documentation gaps and corrective steps.
Essential Functions
  • Coordinate closely with Procurement, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations on supplier‑related quality issues.
  • Serve as the day‑to‑day quality liaison for assigned suppliers, providing timely communication and follow‑up.
  • Support internal teams during Management of Change (MOC) processes that involve supplier quality.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.

Minimum Experience: 7+ years’ related experience in supplier quality management

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline

Preferred Experience: 10+ years’ related experience in supplier quality management, preferably in LNG sector.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, API, ASME, and related standards
