Job Description
THIS IS A 18+ MO CONTRACT ROLE
WORK IS COMPLETED ONSITE
MAX RATE: $25HR
The R&D Laboratory Technician contractor will support a Catalyst Scale-Up Research & Development team in a variety of catalyst development activities. This position requires a high degree of independence, initiative, attention to detail, self-motivation, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow established operating discipline principles, procedures, and practices to ensure safe and efficient laboratory operations.
- Conduct catalyst preparation, analysis, and testing under the direction of R&D team members.
- Perform safe sampling and analysis of catalysts, catalyst components, and raw materials.
- Safely handle air- and moisture-sensitive materials using techniques such as vacuum lines, inert atmosphere glove boxes, and nitrogen-purged systems.
- Coordinate sample shipment activities.
- Manage hazardous waste in accordance with applicable environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain catalyst, ligand, intermediate, and gas cylinder inventories.
- Perform laboratory maintenance, including vacuum system and glove box upkeep, as well as cylinder repairs.
- Operate and maintain laboratory-scale reactor systems.
Preferred Experience
- 1-2 years of laboratory, industrial, chemical, maintenance, or related technical experience.
- Strong chemistry background preferred.
- Experience working in chemical manufacturing, research, laboratory, or other technical environments.
- Experience in safety-focused work environments.
- Mechanical aptitude or maintenance-related experience.
Preferred Education
- Associate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Process Technology, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or another science-related discipline preferred.
- Degree is preferred but not required; equivalent experience will be considered.
Work Schedule
Option 1
- 5 days per week
- 8-hour workdays
Option 2
- Four 9-hour workdays
- One 4-hour workday (typically Friday)
The shorter workday is generally scheduled on Friday, though alternative arrangements may be considered.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Provided On Site
- Lab coat
- Safety glasses/goggles
- Gloves
- Specialty gloves and additional PPE required for specific laboratory procedures
Candidate Must Provide
- Closed-toe safety shoes or other appropriate footwear
This position offers hands-on experience supporting catalyst research, laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, and safe chemical handling in a dynamic R&D environment.
