Scaffold Builder Journeyman – Austin Industrial

Job OverviewThis role constructs, assembles, maintains, and dismantles tubular scaffolding or other temporary structures. A minimum of three years of experience in the scaffolding craft is required.
Responsibilities- Determine the type of scaffold needed.
- Inspect job site and scaffold materials for defects and safety hazards.
- Communicate safety hazards and mitigate avoidable hazards prior to construction.
- Transport scaffold or other structural material and erect it to required dimensions.
- Hoist scaffold materials upward for erection.
- Secure and level locking sections of scaffold material.
- Secure scaffold to permanent structure for added stability.
- Adhere to OSHA, site‑specific, and Austin Industrial requirements for erection and navigation of scaffold.
- Perform final inspection of completed scaffold.
- Dismantle scaffold when authorized.
- Inspect and properly stow scaffold material after dismantling.
Requires regular sitting, use of hands for handling and reaching, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting or moving up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds frequently. Requires good vision including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
QualificationsEducation: High school diploma; certification as a lubrication technician (required).
Experience: Minimum 3 years of scaffolding experience. Perform duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
Language: Ability to read, comprehend, write simple correspondence, and speak fluent English.
Mathematics: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
May directly supervise 1 to 5 scaffold‑builder helpers in the Operations Department per Austin Industrial policy.
Work EnvironmentExposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes, chemicals, outside weather, vibration, wet or humid conditions, and loud noise.
Certification / LicenseTWIC Card and valid driver's license.
