Job Overview
INEOS Olefins and Polymers USA, a leading producer of olefins and polyolefins in North America, is seeking a Damage Prevention Technician to support the Pipeline Supply Organization (PSO). The role involves inspecting construction sites, reading utility maps, and locating underground utilities near PSO assets.
Responsibilities & AccountabilityUnder the direction of a supervisor, the technician will perform visual inspections of specified construction areas, interpret utility maps, use electronic detection equipment, and manage excavation notices. The position also requires safety stewardship and support of company processes.
- Accountability 1: SHE Stewardship
- Visibly supports and promotes the INEOS 20 Principles.
- All activities are performed in accordance with company, local, state, federal, and health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promotes a safe work environment for contractors.
- Verifies clear understanding of work scope, reviews work type and safety hazards.
- Accountability 2:
General Duties- Use laptop/device to receive, document, and close out excavation notices.
- Read and interpret utility maps to identify underground utilities.
- Communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel regarding underground facilities.
- Operate electronic detection equipment to locate and mark underground facilities.
- Perform light excavation to expose buried utilities when required.
- Provide accurate documentation or sketches of all completed locates.
- Respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours per time requirements.
- Operate company vehicles safely and maintain professional appearance.
- Perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices.
- Work in all weather conditions and during normal and after hours.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two to five years of related pipeline field experience.
- Skills & Knowledge
- Complete company’s locator training program and pass all tests.
- Develop knowledge of state and local damage prevention regulations.
- Understand utility construction patterns and layout.
- Apply safety measures for motor vehicle operations, manhole entry, and field activities.
- Licenses & Other Requirements
- Valid state driver’s license with acceptable MVR record.
- Pass pre‑employment drug screen and background checks; subject to random testing.
- Obtain TWIC certification.
- Obtain access to all facilities with INEOS pipeline assets.
