A Roofer is responsible for covering roofs of structures with shingles, slate, asphalt, aluminum, wood and related materials. This position may spray roofs, sidings, and walls with material to bind, seal insulate, or soundproof sections of structures.

Working Conditions:
  • Promote, demonstrate and instill Brock’s Bsafe and Bbest culture in all aspects of the business
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with Contractor Specifications and/or as directed by the Contractor’s Representative.
  • Ensure all applicable Contractor’s Safety Procedures, OSHA, state, local and/or Contractor’s safety requirements are followed
  • Cut roofing paper to size and nails or staples paper to roof in overlapping strips to form base for roofing materials
  • Clean and maintains equipment
  • Remove snow, water, or debris from roofs prior to applying roofing materials
  • Insulate, soundproofs, and seals buildings with foam, using spray gun, air compressor, and heater
  • Punch holes in slate, tile, terra cotta, or wooden shingles, using punch and hammer
  • Apply gravel or pebbles over top layer, using rake or stiff-bristled broom.
  • Apply alternate layers of hot asphalt or tar and roofing paper until roof covering is completed as specified
  • Overlap successive layers of roofing material, determining distance of overlap, using chalkline, gauge on shingling hatchet, or lines on shingles
  • Cut strips of flashing and fits them into angles formed by walls, vents, and intersecting roof surfaces
  • Mop or pour hot asphalt or tar onto roof base when applying asphalt or tar and gravel to roof.
  • Aligns roofing material with edge of roof
  • Fasten composition shingles or sheets to roof with asphalt, cement, or nails

ORIENTATION
- Must be able to successfully pass Brock and/or Safety Council Site Specific Orientation requirements.

HEAVY WORK
- Lifting up to 50 pounds of force from the floor to the waist and 35 pounds of force from the waist to above shoulder.

CLIMBING
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and the like, to elevations in excess of 100 feet, to maintain three-point contact at all times.

LADDERS
- Using vertical ladders Frequently up to 100 feet
- Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.

STAIRS & RAMPS
- Using stairs or ramps:
Occasionally up to 100 feet
- Activity exists up to 40% of the work shift.

BALANCING
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, on unprotected elevated surfaces using fall protection equipment; or maintaining body equilibrium when performing scaffold construction at elevations using fall protection equipment. Frequently
- Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.

STOOPING
- Bending body downward and forward by bending at the waist, requiring full use of the leg and back muscles on a repetitive basis. Frequently

KNEELING
- Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Occasionally
- Activity exists up to 40% of the work shift.

CROUCHING
- Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and waist. Frequently

REACHING
- Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in order to receive materials from ground level weighing up to 50 pounds as it is being passed and 35 pounds from overhead. Frequently
