LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established construction company in Fremont that is seeking an experienced AP Accountant to join their team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with construction industry experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has strong knowledge of job costing and project-based accounting.
Position OverviewThe AP Accountant will be responsible for managing the full accounts payable cycle while supporting project accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Vista software and understand how accounts payable impacts construction job costing and project profitability.
Key Responsibilities- Process high-volume accounts payable invoices accurately and efficiently
- Match invoices to purchase orders, contracts, and receiving documentation
- Verify coding and allocation of expenses to appropriate jobs and cost codes
- Review and maintain job costing records and project-related expenditures
- Prepare and process vendor payments, including ACH, wire, and check runs
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Assist with month-end close activities, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Maintain accurate vendor files and support audit requests
- Collaborate with project managers and accounting staff regarding project costs and invoice approvals
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures
- 3+ years of accounts payable and accounting experience
- Construction industry experience required
- Strong job costing experience required
- Previous experience using Vista software required
- Understanding of construction accounting principles and project cost tracking
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and XLOOKUPs
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

$31.33 - $ per 38.47 hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic market data.
