Position Overview
Ohlone College is inviting applications for temporary part‑time teaching assignments in the Department of Psychology. Assignments can occur during day, evening, or weekend sessions and may be delivered in‑person, online, or through a hybrid modality across the Fremont Campus, the Newark Center, and eCampus.
Duties and Responsibilities- Teach Psychology courses at the post‑secondary level in accordance with approved course outlines.
- Evaluate Student work using clear criteria tied to the course content and learning outcomes, providing timely feedback to students.
- Maintain and submit accurate records for grades, syllabi, and attendance reports along with other required documentation.
- Create an equity‑based and welcoming classroom environment that supports diversity and inclusion.
- Perform additional duties as described in Board policy, the United Faculty of Ohlone (UFO) contract, the Faculty Handbook, and any assignments specified for the Fremont Campus, Newark Center, eCampus, or other designated locations.
- Master’s Degree in Psychology; or
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology combined with a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Sociology, Statistics, Neuroscience, or Social Work; or an equivalent combination. - Commitment to equity‑based, anti‑racist community college values and to supporting culturally, socio‑economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students, including those with disabilities.
- Evidence of responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and an understanding of how these factors influence equity‑minded pedagogical practices.
- Teaching experience at the community college level (desired but not required).
- Experience with innovative, student‑engagement strategies and technology‑enhanced instruction (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
- Experience designing socially conscious syllabi and inclusive teaching materials that promote equity in the classroom.
- Experience addressing equity issues and working with minoritized students, including awareness of historical exclusions and commitment to participatory governance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
