Responsibilities
Teach 3-D Design, Sculpture, and Glass classes in accordance with post‑secondary course outlines.
Evaluate student work using clear criteria tied to course content and learning outcomes, providing timely feedback.
Maintain and submit accurate records such as grades, syllabi, and attendance reports by published deadlines.
Create an equity‑based and welcoming classroom environment.
Perform duties described in Board policy, the United Faculty bargaining unit contract, the Faculty Handbook, and any assignments assigned at the Fremont Campus, Newark Center, online via eCampus, or other designated locations.
Minimum QualificationsMaster’s degree in fine arts, art, or art history, or Bachelor's in the above fields with a Master’s in humanities, or an equivalent combination.
Commitment to community college goals of equity, anti‑racism, and quality programs for culturally and socio‑economically diverse students, including those with disabilities.
Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, applying equity‑mindful practices.
Desired Qualifications- Teaching experience at the community college level (desired but not required).
- Experience using innovative teaching methods that encourage student engagement.
- Experience creating socially conscious syllabi, equitable classroom materials, and inclusive pedagogical practices.
- Experience addressing equity issues, including work with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other minoritized students, and willingness to improve relational practices for racially minoritized students.
- Experience with computer technology as a teaching tool, including course management systems such as Blackboard or Canvas.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
