Position DescriptionOhlone College is creating a pool of qualified applicants for temporary part‑time teaching assignments in physics, including day, evening, and weekend courses delivered in‑person, online, or hybrid. Assignments are scheduled as needed, and applicants will remain in the pool for two years.
Duties and Responsibilities- Master’s degree in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics; OR a bachelor’s degree in physics or astronomy combined with a master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics; OR the equivalent.
- Commitment to community college equity, anti‑racism, and support for diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and ability groups.
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of students’ diverse backgrounds and how to apply equity‑mindful practices.
- Teaching experience at the community college level (desired).
- Experience using innovative teaching methods that encourage student engagement.
- Experience creating socially conscious syllabi and inclusive instructional materials.
- Experience addressing equity issues and working with historically marginalized student populations.
- Experience with computer technology as a teaching tool, including course management systems such as Blackboard or Canvas.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
