Assistant Director Of Enrollment

Reporting to the Director of Enrollment, the Assistant Director of Enrollment supports the day-to-day operations of the undergraduate and graduate recruitment teams. This role assists in the managing of a team of enrollment counselors and is responsible for executing recruitment strategies, overseeing application review, and ensuring a consistent, data-informed, and student-centered experience for prospective students. The Assistant Director plays a critical role in operationalizing strategic goals and driving continuous improvement across the enrollment process.
This is an exempt, full-time position located in Fremont, CA, with eligibility for a hybrid schedule.
Supervise, train, and support a team of undergraduate and graduate enrollment counselors to ensure high-quality, consistent engagement with prospective students.
Implement recruitment strategies developed in collaboration with the Director of Enrollment and other senior leaders.
Manage the application review process, serving as a primary or secondary reader and making final decisions in concert with the Director.
Monitor and report on key enrollment metrics, including funnel health, yield rates, and demographic trends.
Assist with the evaluation of day-to-day enrollment processes and provide input to improve efficiency and consistency.
Recommend, develop, and help deliver ongoing training and onboarding for enrollment staff to support consistency, professional development, and alignment with institutional best practices. Collaborate with the Director of Enrollment to support communications and campaigns that effectively engage prospective students and reflect the university's brand and values.
Support the Director in ensuring effective use of Salesforce by enrollment staff and communicating feedback for system improvements to the Director.
Ensure recruitment practices reflect the university's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Support cross-departmental collaboration to enhance the prospective student experience and improve conversion rates.
Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience). Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in undergraduate, graduate or online enrollment management, recruitment, or admissions, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Proven success in recruitment and achieving enrollment goals, preferably in a higher education setting.
Proven experience in leading teams or projects, demonstrating strong leadership and management skills.
Strong experience with Salesforce and other CRM or SIS systems (e.g.,Slate, Ellucian, etc.) and other enrollment-related technology tools.
Experience with data analysis and the ability to interpret enrollment trends, create reports, and adjust strategies accordingly.
Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region for recruitment activities, including campus visits, fairs, and networking events.
Work evenings and weekends as required to accommodate recruitment events and prospective student schedules.
A valid driver's license and personal automobile are required.
Strategic thinking and ability to develop and execute comprehensive enrollment strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence prospective students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor, motivate, and support staff.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including prospective students and their families, alums, faculty, and external partners such as academic institutions and professional organizations.
Knowledge of undergraduate and graduate admissions processes, including application review, decision-making, and financial aid.
Familiarity with higher education marketing strategies, including digital marketing, recruitment events, yield initiatives,and student engagement.
Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and experience in fostering inclusive recruitment practices.
