Preschool Teacher or TA (Full-Time)

Status:
Non-Exempt Reports to Lead Teacher

A Teacher, or Classroom Instructor, is responsible for supervising, educating and supporting students to help them accomplish learning benchmarks. Their duties include planning lessons that target specific skills and concepts, managing classroom behavior to keep all students engaged in the lesson and providing individual support and feedback for their students.

Job Responsibilities
  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters social-emotional development and enhances learning.
  • Establish and enforce rules and routines to ensure a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom atmosphere.
  • Use Roadmap, Bright Wheel, monthly newsletters, and Tree Ring yearbook for classroom management.
  • Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes active learning, creativity, and exploration.
  • Plan daily lesson plans, activities, and experiences aligned with educational standards and support children’s individual needs and interests.
  • Align with program/school curriculum goals such as project-based learning.
  • Set up classroom and learning center according to themes.
  • Conduct circle time and age-appropriate activities.
  • Plan events/celebrations to enhance cultural learning.
  • Handle transitions effectively.
  • Use DRDP and possibly DRDPTech to conduct ongoing assessments of children’s developmental levels and progress.
  • Use assessment data to inform instructional decisions, individualize learning experiences, and communicate progress to parents/guardians.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of children’s growth, behavior, and learning outcomes, including IEP, behavior report, BW digital portfolio, and developmental screening like ASQ.
  • Follow licensing, accreditation, and school policies, and NAEYC/QRIS standards.
  • Adhere to break time, time card, and time off request memos.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about children’s progress, activities, and developmental milestones.
  • Collaborate with families to support children’s learning and development at home and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well‑being of all children in the classroom and on the preschool premises.
  • Implement health and safety protocols, including emergency procedures and hygiene practices.
  • Supervise students during activities, transitions, and outdoor play to maintain a secure and orderly environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills, stay updated on best practices, and maintain licensure or certification requirements.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Early Childhood Education or related field or Teacher certificate.
  • 1 year of preschool experience.
  • 6 ECE units for Teacher Assistant.
  • 12 ECE units for Teacher.
  • 3 infant unit if working for Infant/Toddler Program.
Physical Requirements
  • Maintain proximity to children within arm’s reach, participating in safety drills which may involve moving children from one location to another.
  • Lift, carry, and move children weighing up to 50 pounds, including lifting children onto a changing table to a height of 4–5 feet.
  • Frequently get up and down from the floor and bend while interacting with children.
  • Stand and sit for extended periods interchangeably throughout the day.
  • Withstand outdoor temperatures and conditions for extended periods during all seasons.
  • Be incidentally exposed to common childhood illnesses and other common colds, flus, and viruses.
  • Frequently experience a noisy and loud environment including children laughing, talking, shouting, and crying.
  • Use center-provided cleaning solutions and products to maintain a clean and sanitary environment, performing minimal cleaning tasks such as wiping tables and sanitizing changing tables.

  • Familiar with company staff handbook and policies; attend all training and meetings.
